Generalized noortman and van es’ empty trips model

This paper presents a generalized Noortman and Van Es’ empty trips model that considers commodity groups vehicle types. The allows the analyst to quantify contribution of by various types commodities. was validated using data collected in Colombia as part national Freight Origin-Destination Survey. results reveal not all commodities generate similar proportions, require specialized equipment are ones with largest proportion generated. Moreover, show proportions generated given varies across key is it produces more precise estimates includes impacts cargo type generation trips. proposed could be used planners identify paired together repurposed reduce their regions.
